Crazy Days and Hospital Admit
As you know, Camden was diagnosed with cdiff again. The night of his diagnoses he started puking like crazy and had a lot of explosive diarrhea. We had to go to the ER the next morning. We narrowly avoided being admitted to the hospital that day. We’ve been working with the nephrologist via phones calls and text messages to keep Camden hydrated and out if the red if you will. Then I got sick. Then my mom for sick. But we remained hopeful that Camden had turned the corner. And then, out of nowhere, Camden had some massive diarrhea and a huge vomit. I knew we were teetering on the edge of dehydration anyway and I knew he couldn’t afford another bout of puking, so I texted his nephrologist. She had us come in for lab draws and an IV bolus (a unit of fluid). We were hopeful that would be it and we could go home. But we were wrong.
After a long night of late to bed and interrupted sleep and lots if dirty diapers, we are still in the hospital. Here for at least another 24 hours. Ah the hospital rabbit hole. I wonder what “another 24 hours” will turn into. We shall see. The neph is concerned that there are underlying causes of Camden’s prolonged diarrhea, and suspects a temporary lactose intolerance because if all the GI issues. So we sent away a stool sample for a reducing substances test and we sit and await the results. We are in isolation because if the cdiff and the GI bug they suspect is the Norwalk virus. Stuck in our room. Good times with an anxious toddler who really want to explore (note the sarcasm). Thank goodness for the iPod.

Wishing you both the very, very best. May the bugs clear up ASAP!
